10 Softwares you must have while you are using Windows 7

| August 26, 2011 | 2 Comments
Hello Readers,

I installed Windows for the 2nd time in last 24 hours, and with it I had to install all the essential softwares. So here I am up with a list of must have softwares which you need while you are on windows 7. Download links along with specifications have been given below.

1.Microsoft Office 2007

Even though Microsoft is up with Ms Office 2010, but for me it sucks, It hangs just in the middle and your unsaved data is lost forever.
This is a must have for Windows. It will help you create documents, presentations, spreadsheets, tables and a lot more. An alternative to Ms Office is Open Office(which is FREE coz it is open source). Below is the download link using which you can download Ms Office 2007 using any torrent client (utorrent).

2. AVG Anti-Virus

Microsoft is trying hard on its security part but still everyday almost 5000 new viruses targeting Windows PCs take birth on the net. There are many anti-viruses available on the net which are good such as AVG, kaspersky, avast etc. Out of all those I personally prefer using AVG because of its sall size and low CPU usage. AVG anti-virus is also available for FREE with limited features though. Below is the download link using which you can download free version of AVG Anti-Virus.

3. Chrome Web Browser

Without internet computers are almost useless for us. Windows by default comes with a web browser(Internet Explorer) which is useless. It is quite low on ts security and its navigation also sucks. Moreover designs of most of the sites on the web are not compatible with Internet Explorer now (Yes, we can argue over this).
Google, the almighty of internet has come up with a browser named Chrome. This browser is extremely user friendly and secured. You can download it from the link below

4. VLC Media Player

VLC is a free and open source cross-platform multimedia player and framework that plays most multimedia files as well as DVD, Audio CD, VCD, and various streaming protocols. Even though windows comes with an inbuilt Media Player but it stands no where in front of VLC. oreover VLC is opensource which makes it FREE. Use the link below to download the latest version of VLC Media Player

5. Win Rar – Archive Manager

An archive manager is used to compress/uncompress files or folders. This is mostly used when you have to transfer or store more than  one files. Win Rar is a brilliant archive manager which supports .rar .zip .7z .iso and many other popular compression extensions. Use the link below to download the latest version of WinRar

6. Gimp Image Editor

Gimp is a very powerful and light-weight image editor. It is one of the best tool for photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. Even though there are better image editors available in the market such as Adobe Photoshop but its light weight, user friendly interface and FREE download makes it a little ahead of its competition. You can use the link below to download the latest version of Gimp

7. Skype

Skype is the best VOIP software available on the web for voice/video chat and conference. It not just supports Free PC-to-PC calls but also ofers cheap PC-to-Phone calls. It is a widely used software which is now also available for phones. If you still havent used skype, you are missing something in life. Use the link below to download the latest version of skype

8. uTorrent

Torrent is a Peer-to Peer download protocol.
uTorrent is a very light weight bit torrent client. This few kb download file enables you to download unlimited data from any torrent site. Its extremely simple user interface has made it very popular in recent years. You can use the link below to download the latest version of uTorrent

9. Digsby Instant Messenger

digsby is a multiprotocol IM client that lets you chat with all your friends on AIM, MSN, Yahoo, ICQ, Google Talk, and Jabber with one simple to manage buddy list. Its email notification tool alerts you of new email and lets you perform actions such as ‘Delete’ or ‘Report Spam’ with just one click. It also has a ocial networking tool that alerts you of events like new messages and gives you a live Newsfeed of what your friends are up to.
You can use the link below to download the latest version of digsby

10. Daemon Tools

It is an advanced application for Microsoft Windows which provides one of the best optical media emulation in the industry. DAEMON Tools enables you to convert your physical CD/DVD discs into “virtual discs” so called “images”. It also emulated up to 4 virtual CD/DVD drives, so you can mount (insert) and unmount (eject) images.
You can use the link below to download the latest version

So, thats my list. If you feel that I am missing any software or have an issue in installing any software feel free to comment. :)
